The role

Start your career building real software for schools.

PCR Educator's junior engineering program is for people who want to write code that ships. You will join a small, senior team, work across our full stack, and be expected to contribute to production code in your first weeks. There is no 'intern project' here.

We have a strong track record of growing engineers from junior contributors to senior owners. If you want early ownership, mentorship from engineers who have been here for a decade, and code that serves 800+ real institutions, this is the role.

What you'll do

Your responsibilities.

Work across .NET backend, React frontend, and SQL Server under close mentorship from senior engineers

Contribute to feature development, bug fixes, and technical debt reduction

Participate in code review, both giving and receiving constructive feedback

Learn PCR's data model and platform architecture with the goal of independent ownership within 12 months

Collaborate with product, implementation, and customer success to understand real school workflows

Contribute to internal tooling, automation, and testing infrastructure

What you bring

What we're looking for.

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent demonstrable engineering ability
  • Proficiency in at least one compiled or strongly-typed language
  • Genuine intellectual curiosity about complex systems and data architectura
  • Ability to receive and act on code review feedback without defensiveness
  • Strong written communication: you can describe a problem clearly and propose a solution
  • Located in or willing to relocate to the Silver Spring, MD area
